DeLonghi Magnifica & Dinamica: Infuser and Brew-Group Replacement Guide (7313251451 vs 7313251441)

DeLonghi superautomatics are genuinely durable machines — but the infuser (brew group) is a wear item, and DeLonghi says so themselves. The seals and gaskets that let it build brew pressure wear out on a schedule set by how many shots you pull. When they go, the symptoms look alarming but the fix is one inexpensive kit. The catch: DeLonghi makes two different infusion kits, and they are not interchangeable.

Which kit does your machine take?

That's the whole decision: ECAM → 7313251451, ESAM → 7313251441. The model label is behind the water tank on most machines. If your label is worn off or you're not sure, send us a photo of the machine and we'll identify it.

The symptoms of worn infuser seals

• Coffee grounds in your cup — the piston seal is no longer scraping a clean seal against the brew chamber.
• Water or wet sludge under the machine — brew pressure is escaping past the gaskets instead of going through the puck.
• Weak, fast, watery shots — same cause, milder stage. Pressure that should extract your coffee is leaking around it.
• "Insert infuser" / "brew unit" errors or an infuser that physically sticks — dried coffee oils and a swollen seal binding the group in its track.

The job itself

1. Remove the infuser. Power off, open the service door, press the two release tabs and slide the brew group out. (If it's stuck mid-cycle, power the machine on and off once so it parks, then try again.)
2. Soak and scrub. Warm water only — no soap, it strips the food-safe lubricant and flavors your coffee. Ten-minute soak, soft brush for the screen and chamber, and let it dry.
3. Swap the seals. The kit's main piston seal rolls off its groove with a pick or small flathead; seat the new one evenly with no twist. Replace the smaller O-rings/gaskets included in your kit while you're there.
4. Lubricate. A thin film of food-safe silicone grease on the seal and the guide rails. This is the step everyone skips and it's half the job — a dry seal wears out in months.
5. Reinstall and test. Click the group back until both tabs lock, run a rinse cycle, then pull a shot. Pressure should feel — and sound — noticeably stronger.

Seals, or the whole brew group?

If the plastic frame of the infuser is cracked, the rack teeth are chipped, or the group binds even after cleaning and new seals, replace the whole assembly instead — for ECAM machines we stock the complete extractable brew group. If the machine also grinds strangely, leaks from somewhere other than the brew chamber, or throws electronic errors, that's bench territory: book a repair and we'll go through the whole machine. Make the new seals last

Rinse the infuser weekly, lubricate roughly every 500 shots, and deal with your water: scale doesn't hit the infuser directly, but it kills the thermoblock and valves around it. On EBMUD's harder pockets (El Sobrante, San Pablo, parts of Richmond) run the DeLonghi DLSC002 tank filter and descale on schedule.

FAQ

How often do infuser seals need replacing?

DeLonghi's guidance works out to roughly every 1–2 years for a daily-use household. Grounds in the cup or water under the machine are the signal — there's no need to replace them preemptively before symptoms.

Are the two kits really not interchangeable?

Really not. The ESAM and ECAM brew groups use different seal dimensions. The wrong kit will either not seat or leak immediately.

My infuser is stuck and won't come out — now what?

Power-cycle so the group parks in its home position, then try the release tabs again. If it's still jammed, stop — forcing it breaks the rack teeth, which turns a seal kit into a full brew-group replacement. Bring it in instead.
