Frequently Asked Questions
Atom 75 vs Specialita — is the Atom worth nearly twice the price?
For light and medium roasts, yes. The 75mm flat burrs deliver noticeably better cup clarity and separation vs. the Specialita's 55mm. For dark-roast espresso and milk drinks, the difference is smaller — most people drinking espresso milk drinks daily wouldn't taste the upgrade. Match the grinder to the roasts you actually drink.
Atom 75 vs LUCCA Atom 75 — same machine?
Same hardware, different distributor. The LUCCA Atom 75 is Clive Coffee's branded version of the same Eureka grinder. Functionally identical. Pick based on price, color availability, and warranty preference.
Can I single-dose with the Atom 75?
Technically yes, with caveats. The Atom 75 is hopper-based — it's designed to keep beans loaded above the burrs. Single-dosing requires removing the hopper and using a bellows mod (or third-party single-dose hopper). Retention will be 1-3 grams per dose. If single-dosing matters more than burr size, look at a DF64 or Lagom Mini instead.
Standard vs short hopper — which should I get?
The standard 300g hopper is fine for most home setups. The short (transparent) hopper is for tight cabinet clearance — useful if you're putting the grinder under upper cabinets. The 1200g hopper is overkill for home use; mostly bought by small cafés.
How loud is it?
Genuinely quiet — Eureka's "SILENZIO" motor branding is real. Owners on home-barista.com cite it as one of the quietest 75mm grinders available. Roughly 65-70dB during grinding, which is "loud appliance" territory but a meaningful step down from most grinders at this size.
