A rotating single-origin from Zolo. The current offering is Ethiopian Guji Gerbicho Rogicha — a natural-processed coffee dried on raised beds. Tasting notes of pomegranate, blackberry, and rose with a pleasing acidity. This is the coffee for fruit-forward drinkers and pourover enthusiasts. Zolo selects each Roaster's Choice based on crop availability and seasonality, so the underlying coffee rotates over time.
Roast: Light to medium (varies with current offering)
Origin: Single origin — currently Ethiopia (Guji Gerbicho Rogicha, natural processed)
Style: Rotating single origin — Zolo picks the bean based on seasonality and crop availability
Tasting Notes: Currently: pomegranate, blackberry, rose, pleasing acidity
Recommended for: Pourover (ideal), espresso (dynamic), cold brew, drip
Roaster: Zolo Coffee Roasters
How to Brew It
-
Pourover: This is the coffee's home. 1:16 ratio, slow bloom. The fruit notes come forward beautifully — pomegranate and blackberry, with the rose appearing in the finish.
-
Espresso: Surprisingly dynamic as a shot. Try a slightly longer ratio (1:2.5, 18g in, 45g out) to bring out the fruit without harsh acidity. Great as straight espresso, less ideal for heavy milk drinks.
-
Cold brew: Excellent. The natural-processing character softens beautifully over a 16-18 hour steep.
-
Drip: Brews cleanly. Use a slightly coarser grind than your medium-roast default.

About Zolo Coffee Roasters
Zolo is our neighbor in Berkeley — a roaster we've worked with for years. We carry their full lineup because they roast great coffee, consistently. The bags we sell are the same beans we pull at the shop. See the full Zolo lineup →
Why we carry Zolo
We've been working with Dave and Nick at Zolo Coffee since early 2020 — neighbors who supported each other through the pandemic and have been collaborating on machines and customers ever since. They roast a few blocks from our shop, and we share the same priorities: coffee worth drinking, machines that run right, and treating people well.
