Our darkest roast. Central and South American washed coffees roasted well into second crack for a full-bodied, bold cup with hints of fig and chocolate. The name draws from an Italian idiom — in bocca al lupo, "in the mouth of the wolf" — wishing luck to hunters. Perfect for those performing at peak levels.
Roast: Dark
Origin: Central & South America (washed)
Tasting Notes: Fig, chocolate, full body
Recommended for: Espresso (single & milk drinks), French press, drip, pourover, cold brew
Roaster: Zolo Coffee Roasters
How to Brew It
-
Espresso: Pulls thick and syrupy. Start at 1:2 ratio (18g in, 36g out) in 28–32 seconds. The chocolate notes carry beautifully into milk drinks.
-
French press / cold brew: The dark roast holds up to long immersion. 1:15 ratio, 4-minute brew for hot; 1:8 concentrate for cold brew.
-
Drip / pourover: Use a slightly coarser grind than typical to avoid over-extraction. Drinks great black or with cream.

About Zolo Coffee Roasters
Zolo is our neighbor in Berkeley — a roaster we've worked with for years. We carry their full lineup because they roast great coffee, consistently. The bags we sell are the same beans we pull at the shop. See the full Zolo lineup →
Why we carry Zolo
We've been working with Dave and Nick at Zolo Coffee since early 2020 — neighbors who supported each other through the pandemic and have been collaborating on machines and customers ever since. They roast a few blocks from our shop, and we share the same priorities: coffee worth drinking, machines that run right, and treating people well.
