A blend of Sumatran and Central/South American washed coffees crafted for dark roasting. Bold, full-bodied, and bursting with semi-sweet chocolate and hazelnut flavor. Sourced from farms committed to environmental stewardship.
Roast: Darker side of medium
Origin: Sumatra + Central/South America (washed)
Tasting Notes: Semi-sweet chocolate, hazelnut, full body
Recommended for: Espresso, French press, drip, pourover, cold brew
Roaster: Zolo Coffee Roasters
How to Brew It
-
Espresso: Versatile espresso bean. Start at 1:2 ratio (18g in, 36g out) in 28–32 seconds. Hazelnut and chocolate come through beautifully in milk drinks.
-
French press / cold brew: 1:15 ratio, 4-minute brew for hot. For cold brew, run a 1:8 concentrate steeped 16–18 hours.
-
Drip / pourover: Forgiving for a French roast — extracts cleanly across a range of grind sizes. Good "house coffee" for cafes and offices.

About Zolo Coffee Roasters
Zolo is our neighbor in Berkeley — a roaster we've worked with for years. We carry their full lineup because they roast great coffee, consistently. The bags we sell are the same beans we pull at the shop. See the full Zolo lineup →
Why we carry Zolo
We've been working with Dave and Nick at Zolo Coffee since early 2020 — neighbors who supported each other through the pandemic and have been collaborating on machines and customers ever since. They roast a few blocks from our shop, and we share the same priorities: coffee worth drinking, machines that run right, and treating people well.
