The Lelit William is a professional-grade espresso grinder engineered to match the performance of Lelit's prosumer machine lineup. Built around flat steel burrs and a robust motor, the William produces the consistent, uniform grind particle distribution that high-quality espresso extraction demands. Designed and manufactured in Italy with the same build quality philosophy as Lelit's espresso machines, the William is built for daily use and long service life. It's an ideal companion for any Lelit machine — or any serious espresso setup that deserves a grinder that won't hold it back.

Frequently Asked Questions

William vs Specialita — which should I buy?

The William has 64mm burrs (vs Specialita's 55mm) and feels more substantial, with a polished stainless steel body and integrated tamper-stand dial. Cup quality is a small but real step up. The catch: the LCC (Lelit Control Centre) interface is consistently called "anything but intuitive" by reviewers — you'll spend the first few sessions with the manual. The Specialita is plug-and-play; the William rewards reading the manual.

William vs Atom 75 — same brand of machine, different ecosystem grinder?

Atom 75 has bigger 75mm burrs and meaningful cup-quality advantage on light/medium roasts. William has the Lelit aesthetic match if you're running a Lelit machine. Performance-per-dollar leans Atom 75; visual coherence with a Lelit machine leans William.

What does "manual + electronic" mode mean?

Two ways to grind. Manual mode lets you press and hold to grind on demand — more tactile, you control the dose by feel. Electronic mode uses LCC-set timers for repeatable dosing — set to 9.0 seconds, get the same dose every time. Most owners pick one mode and stick with it.

Is the LCC display worth using?

Mixed reviews. The LCC lets you store grind times, swap profiles, and view shot data — but the interface is unintuitive and reviewers note neither the display nor settings are understandable without the operating instructions. Treat it as a "set it once and forget it" feature, not a daily-use UI.

How loud is it?

Quiet. 64mm flat burrs with Lelit's housing run noticeably quieter than older Lelit grinders or commercial Mazzers. Comparable noise level to a Specialita.

Static and retention?

Per Coffeeness's review, "static electricity is practically non-existent" and grind output is exceptionally uniform. Magnetic grinds catch tray reduces spillage. Retention is moderate (typical hopper grinder); not a single-dose machine.

Hopper capacity?

350g — slightly larger than Specialita's standard hopper. Holds about a week's worth of beans for daily home use. Not designed for café duty.

What It Pairs Well With

The William was designed by Lelit specifically as a companion grinder for their machine lineup. Whole Latte Love and Lelit's own marketing position it as "the perfect companion" for Lelit espresso machines. Common pairings:

Machines

  • Lelit Victoria ($999) — purpose-built same-brand pairing. Symmetric design and matched OLED displays.
  • Lelit Mara X ($1,699) — clean Lelit-to-Lelit setup; price-matched performance tier.
  • Lelit Elizabeth V3 ($1,799) — dual-boiler match.
  • Lelit Bianca V3 ($2,999) — same-brand Bianca pairing; works well, though Atom 75 outperforms on light roasts.

Workflow accessories

  • Bottomless portafilter — works with the William's adjustable chute for clean dosing.
  • WDT tool — common pairing for any flat-burr hopper grinder.
  • Scale — Acaia Lunar fits under most portafilters; Timemore is the budget pick.

🔧 Kanen Tech Take

Khaldoun (Senior Tech): "Powerful grinder but stepped adjustments can be inconvenient if you're dialing in frequently. Otherwise it rarely clogs and is great for the price. We see very few issues with these — they just work."

Sam (Owner): "Flat-burr grinder — good for the price point." Solid daily driver for home use.
